Primary Care Professionals Needed in Haiti

Opportunity Description:

Haiti Health Ministries is seeking primary care providers for a rural outpatient clinic (no call), treating about 150 patients a day.  We are located about 2 hours from Port au Prince, at the site of the 2010 earthquake, in a new clinic compound.  The Gospel is presented daily before clinic starts and to the critically ill, while prayer with patients is encouraged all the time.  No patients are turned away due to inability to pay.

We have a basic laboratory, digital X-ray, pharmacy, sonography, and minor surgery capabilities.  We have an active emergency practice caring for simple fractures, lacerations, and burns and fly critically ill patients out to hospitals for admission regularly.   The majority of our patients are diabetics, hypertensives, and prenatal, but we also see tropical infectious diseases.   We need short-term volunteers, as well as someone dedicated to long term medical missions.

Haiti is a needy country that is close enough to the US to be easily and cheaply accessible.  We have a secure compound with nice housing provided.  Translators are provided for short term volunteers and Haitian Creole is an easy to learn language for long term workers.   Long term commitment does not require raising a large support base.

We are at the base of a mountain that offers good hiking trails and about 2 miles from the ocean with beaches in every direction.   Come join us in a tropical paradise where you can serve Christ in a meaningful way.
