Janet Kim, MD, MPH, FAAP, MA Beacon Christian Community Health Center, Chief Medical Officer A native of Chicago, Dr. Janet Kim completed undergraduate studies at Emory University as a double major in psychology and music. She received an MA in Bioethics from Trinity International University. She graduated New York Medical College with a combined MD/MPH degree with a concentration in health care finance and policy. She completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at Staten Island University Hospital and joined the staff of the health center afterward until 2006. Her involvement with Beacon began while still a resident, serving as a charter board member in 2003, then joining the staff full time as a physician in 2006, and then becoming its Chief Medical Officer in 2009. Janet retains dual-board certifications in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and continues to see patients. As CMO, she has grown Beacon from a clinical staff of 3 providers providing 3,200 visits in 2006 to a staff of 12 providers, providing comprehensive medical care for adults and children, including women’s health services, totaling over 14,000 annual visits. On top of her professional duties and church and community involvement, she homeschools her 4 young children.

 

 

Pastor Bert L. Jones Bert Jones serves as the Director of Leadership & Church Relations for the Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) in Bristol, TN.  In this role, Bert  oversees the Center for Wellbeing and church ministries.   Bert also serves as the Chaplain of the CMDA. Pastor Jones will be our morning devotional speaker.  He will also be highlighting the new small group curriculum Bridging the Gap:  Where Medical Science and Church Meet.

Friday, January 14

4:00 pm – Registration / Check-in opens (Sandy Cove Front Desk)

  • Note: Name tags will be outside the Chesapeake Auditorium.

8:00 pm – Welcome and Worship (Chesapeake Auditorium)

8:30 pm – Small Groups

9:00 pm – Game Time, Snacks, and Conversation (optional)

 

Saturday, January 15

7:30 am – Breakfast (Pick-up in Dining Hall, Eat in Chesapeake Auditorium),beginning at 8:00 am Bert Jones will offer a devotional and Psalms Lyra Rojas will follow-up with reflective music

9:30 am – Session 1: Worship / Plenary: Reconnecting with (and loving) God by Dr. Janet Kim

10:30 am – Small Groups

11:30 pm – Specialty Lunch (Pick-up in Dining Hall, Eat in Chesapeake Auditorium)—tables hosted by a practitioner of a specialty of interest to you for Q & A

 

Optional opportunities during Free Time (1:30 pm 5:30 pm)

  • 30-foot rock climbing wall (Palmer Connecti-torium, only available 3-5pm, waiver/release form required)
  • 24-hour fitness center (Chesapeake Lodge, 1st floor)
  • Indoor pool & hot tub. Note: Modest swimsuits required for adults and children
  • Nature trail / local attractions / drive to Turkey Point (with a 1.9-mile hike to the Lighthouse)
