Northeast-Ohio-Event

Join us for a weekend of stimulating lectures and fellowship at the 2024 Northeast Ohio CMDA Fall Retreat! This retreat is an annual event that equips you with high-quality instruction on culturally relevant topics. We will review and highlight the ancient ethical tradition from which contemporary medicine and bioethics has departed and the nature of medicine as a practice and health as its endpoint, including the doctor-patient relationship as well as a number of clinical and ethical issues from the beginning of life to its end. We introduce a path away from the provider of medicine model as well as resources to resist the cultural, institutional and political forces that are bent on removing the joy from our calling.

Our speaker for the weekend, Christopher Tollefsen, PhD, has written multiple books and essays exploring ethical issues facing Christians, and most recently he co-authored, with Farr Curlin, MD, The Way of Medicine: Ethics and the Healing Profession. Dr Tollefsen is the distinguished professor of Philosophy at the University of South Carolina.
