June 20, 2019 – June 30, 2019

We seek pediatric and adult medicine physicians of any subspecialty, including obstetrics and psychiatry. In Cuba, no hands on work is expected. The purpose of the presenters is to give a conference or two in your area of specialty to an audience of professors, residents and students, nurses and other health care workers. We usually visit one university hospital per day, and we expect to lecture in five hospitals in five provinces. Sometimes, we make rounds with staff and residents. Spouses and non physician volunteers are welcome to join us to complement our evangelistic work in the hospital wards. Our hosts are the Baptist Convention and the Baptist Medical Dental Fellowship of Western Cuba.

We expect to visit tertiary adult and pediatric hospitals in five cities, including Havana, and Nueva Gerona located in a former isolated “prison island”, the Isle of Youth, about a hundred miles south of Cuba’s mainland in the Caribbean Sea. Other provincial hospitals being considered include those in Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Mayabeque, Artemisa, and Pinar Del Río. To some degree, the choice depends on the composition of our May team.
