Video Modules

This curriculum’s six video modules are designed for allowing viewers to solidify their foundational worldview beliefs regarding important issues, such as biblical worldview, biblical sexuality, etc. Each module also offers ideas of how to winsomely defend biblical values and positively interact with others in developing their worldview beliefs.

As society moves away from its Christian roots, the medical field is also distancing itself from its Hippocratic and Christian foundations, forcing Christian healthcare professionals to defend traditional Hippocratic values that once underpinned medical practice, especially regarding vulnerable populations. These values include protecting life from its beginning until its natural end and upholding traditional definitions of male and female. This progressive shift in medicine increasingly threatens the conscientious freedoms of Christian healthcare workers, leading many who enter the profession to choose specialties based more on avoiding these threats than on a calling from their Lord.

While some Christian healthcare professionals, whether they have practiced for many years or are just starting their careers, have established their Christian ethics concerning vulnerable populations in their medical practice, others may still be working through ethical questions specific to their specialty. Even those who have already set their ethical boundaries on issues like preborn life might struggle to find the right language and skills to communicate and advocate for their positions. That’s why CMDA created the Standing Strong in Practice curriculum.

The Standing Strong in Practice curriculum employs a clear worldview framework that helps communicate a Biblical stance on vulnerable populations, such as protecting preborn life, advocating for natural death through palliative care instead of medical-assisted suicide, and safeguarding vulnerable children and adolescents from the harms of transgender ideology. It also emphasizes the importance of following one’s conscience in medical practice. It can be used by individuals or small groups, while the Standing Strong in Training curriculum is designed for Christian healthcare professionals in training, utilizing a small-group format that combines brief didactic sessions with interactive discussions.

The curriculum maintains an evangelistic mindset while equipping practicing Christian healthcare professionals to defend Biblical values in medicine to non-believers. For Christians who disagree with traditional Biblical interpretations of these values, the second module suggests that personal experience can shape their understanding of them. Each of these perspectives is explored in greater depth in later modules.

If you practice in an environment where you may be required to defend your Biblical values to either followers of Jesus or non-believers, Standing Strong in Practice will help you effectively communicate your perspective in a winsome, Christ-like manner.

Module 1

How Does Worldview Relate to Medical Ethics?

Module one addresses the question of why our culture has become so divided over issues affecting vulnerable populations, such as the preborn and those suffering from gender dysphoria, by examining two foundational worldviews.  The Biblical or Christian worldview and the accidental or materialistic worldview are explored by defining different levels of our thinking process and how we arrive at our ethical conclusions.
