Good Samaritan Scholarship
Part of Global Health Outreach
Luke 10:25-37
PURPOSE
To introduce diverse health care students to Christian medical missions allowing them to not only become familiar with the cultural, social, spiritual, medical and dental problems in developing countries, but also to obtain the skills to participate, in training and mentoring the next generation of missionaries in the name of Jesus.
ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must be:
- A college graduate student in a professional medical training program in the medical or dental fields. This includes students currently enrolled in training programs leading to a degree or certification in the following fields of study: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); Dentist (DDS & DMD); Registered Nurse (RN); Physical Therapist (PT); Occupational Therapist (OT); Physician Assistant (PA); Nurse Practitioner (NP); Pharmacist (RPh & Pharm D); and Master of Public Health (MPH). NOTE: college students enrolled in a Bachelor degree program are excluded)
- A first-time Global Health Outreach short-term medical missions participant.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
- Using the form on this page, applicants must complete the form and submit to Global Health Outreach. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. The application must be submitted at least one month prior to the trip departure, and the applicant must be accepted as a Global Health Outreachtrip participant before applying for the scholarship. Applicants are encouraged to read the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37.
- There is a maximum of one scholarship per Global Health Outreach trip, pending available funds.
AWARDS
Awards will be announced by email as they are granted. The amount of the award will be no more than the maximum of 50% of the established GHO trip fees including *airfare and is limited to GHO trips in Central & Latin America, as well as the Caribbean.

Online Application:
Using the form below, each applicant must submit a letter of no more than 300 words that describes their current course of education and their motivation for serving in medical missions. This letter should address what they hope to learn from their participation in the short-term medical missions experience.
After the trip is complete, the awardee is required to submit a 400-500 word summary report of their experience that focuses on the spiritual change that took place in their life as a result of the trip. This summary report should be sent to GHO at the following e-mail: [email protected].
