The Debasement of Title IX

Title IX was enacted in 1972 in part as a response to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, for the purpose of protecting girls and women from suffering sex discrimination within an educational program that receives funding from the federal government. Since 1972, the statute has largely achieved its goal, as illustrated by the expansion of girls’ and women’s sports at high school and collegiate levels. The most recent embodiment of this success was the multiple records set by college women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark during the 2024 NCAA women’s basketball tournament, accompanied by record attendance and ticket prices. Unfortunately, that same NCAA women’s basketball tournament may also represent the high point of women’s collegiate sports once the new Title IX regulations become effective on August 1.
The latest update to Title IX regulations, introduced by the Biden Administration, will be devastating for women’s sports. It revises the definition of sex discrimination to include gender identity, a move that compels any educational institution receiving federal funds to permit biological males who identify as female to participate in women’s sports. This is a clear advantage for the biological male, even if testosterone levels are temporarily equalized, as any individual with a basic understanding of medical science can attest. The consequence of this will be the end of women’s sports as we have known them for more than 50 years.
As transgender-identified individuals enter, begin competing and eventually win in various women’s sports, promising young female athletes will be discouraged from undertaking the rigorous training that often accompanies these sports. They will be further discouraged from engaging in these sports because of the forced imposition of these biological males utilizing the same locker rooms. Why would they risk embarrassment, shame and possible assault when the inevitable result will be defeat by a biological male?
This latest iteration of Title IX is yet another example of the current administration’s attempt to debase our essential humanity. We are increasingly being led to accept a reality that is not real, an identity that falsely identifies and an equality in competition that is anything but equal. We are being brainwashed into accepting a lie when, as Christians, we know the truth.
At CMDA, we adamantly oppose this latest revision of Title IX. Again, we are forced to recognize that not only does biology matter, but elections do as well.
Well said, Jeff! It is critical that the American people understand what is happening in our country and take a stand to stop the flow of insanity. Thank you for providing this important article.
“Why would they risk embarrassment, shame and possible assault…”
Sexual assault has been well documented at all levels of women’s sports by coaches and healthcare professionals taking advantage of their power and authority over athletes. I know of no cases of transgendered women assaulting cis gendered women. The implication that transgendered persons are assaulters demonizes a group of people that need God’s grace as much as I do.
