Strategic Partnership with CMDA
CMDA collaborates with Christian Community Health Fellowship in providing healthcare for the poor in the United States. We initiated this strategic partnership to maximize our efforts by drawing from the strengths of each organization.
For more than 30 years, CCHF has provided networking for students, medical professionals and people interested in Christian community development. The purpose of CCHF is to live out the gospel through healthcare among the poor. The organization was established to provide focus on the need and the "how to" in caring for the poor.
Until 2005, CMDA had focused its efforts in domestic missions through a group of committed volunteer doctors, the Domestic Missions Commission. This voluntary group was focused on coordinating and supporting doctors who developed clinics that cared for the uninsured and underserved in the U.S. When we blended our efforts, the clinics came under the fellowship of CCHF and CMDA provides its large base of healthcare professionals and its presence on 90 percent of the medical and dental campuses in the U.S.
In our partnership, CCHF concentrates on the mechanics of the clinics, how to get them started, how to run them well, provide the networking for people concerned on serving the poor, and work with students through the process of internships, preceptorships, placement and loan repayment opportunities. CMDA provides access to our members so that many more healthcare professionals may move their careers toward caring for the poor in the future.
