Dietz Scholarship – Margaret J. Dietz Scholarship – Provides financial assistance to support the Christian and professional leadership development of physicians and dentists in low and low-middle income countries and regions of the world.

The Margaret J. Dietz Scholarship was established by Inis Jane Bardella, M.D. and her spouse, Robert R. McConnell, to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Bardella’s grandmother, Mrs. Margaret J. Dietz. Margaret Jane Dietz was homemaker who never went to college or travelled outside the United States, but was a faithful disciple of Christ, a prayer warrior, and a member of the Ladies Missionary Aid Society. She was used by God to open Dr. Bardella’s eyes and heart to missions.

In addition, Dr. Bardella and Mr. McConnell desire that the scholarship (1) glorify God, (2) provide a legacy to support missions and medical education, and (3) provide financial assistance to support the Christian and professional leadership development of physicians and dentists in low and low-middle income countries and regions of the world.

Permissible expenditures for scholarship funds include:

  1. Faculty and leadership development fellowships or programs that facilitate pursuit of an academic leadership role;
  2. Christian leadership development fellowships or programs that facilitate development into a theologically sound servant leader;
  3. Associated expenses such as fees, education materials and living expenses necessary to pursue any of the above studies or programs.

NOTE: The scholarship does not fund residencies or fellowships.

Deadlines are March 31 and October 31 each year.
