“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11, NIV).

Two years ago, two Albanian medical students came to stay in our home while they studied for one month at our local medical school. One was devoted to the Lord, the other an agnostic. I pray daily for each. The one devoted to Christ remains so, the other remains agnostic. We gave the agnostic a Bible to read as he left our home. If he read it, it did not change him. However, in our recent mission to Albania, we met his sister. God had come to her in a dream and told her to read the Bible. She picked up the Bible we had given to her brother and found Christ as her Savior and Lord.

God has an amazing way of finding us and introducing Himself. A dream, a brother’s Bible…God will do whatever it takes to bring us to His throne.

And still, He lets us choose.

The comfort for those who seek to bring others to Christ is that God promises our words will never be wasted. Though we had not yet known this girl, the Bible rejected by her brother’s hardened heart joined God’s dream to bring his sister’s open heart to Jesus.

We often do not see the work God is doing when we speak a word or act in love for Him. Nevertheless, we should never doubt the power God has placed in those words and actions. Whenever we witness for Him, we can be confident He is doing a beautiful thing.

Dear Father,
Let me remain confident in your power and continue to speak.
Amen
