Being Part of Something Greater

Dr. George Gonzalez became a Christian during his first week of college at UC Davis, where he received my bachelor’s degree in nutrition science in 1980. He graduated from UCLA Medical School in 1984, and then he completed a family medicine residency in Contra Costa County Hospital in Martinez, California, located in the San Francisco Bay area. He has been a member of CMDA since 1980 as a medical student. He was involved with CMDA as a student leader and in the local council, and he was on the CMDA Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2011. He previously served as CMDA President from 2009 to 2011, and he currently is the CMDA President from 2023 to 2025. He has been involved with international missions from 1974 to present, mostly in Latin American. Plus, he has participated and led many teams with CMDA’s Global Health Outreach (GHO), and he participated on two Medical Education International (MEI) teams to Cub Teams. Locally, George and his wife Angelica have led the Fresno CMDA Council since 1990. They meet monthly and have two to three local medical outreaches per year in the Central Valley of California. He has served as the Medical Director of a very busy Pregnancy Care Center for more than 30 years. He also has served on the founding board for Medical Ministries Int., where they collect used or hardly used medical equipment and ship it to missionary hospitals around the world. In addition, he has served in numerous leadership roles in the local church and attends a weekly men’s Bible study.
