ACOG ACTION of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists published a comment on X about the striking down of a Montana law requiring parental consent to have an abortion. The comment said, “ACOG is relieved to see that Montana parental consent law, which makes a minor’s right to receive an abortion care contingent upon parental consent, has been struck down. Essential health care must be available to everyone that needs it, regardless of age.”

Then they reposted the Montana Planned Parenthood statement: “(A) minor’s right to control her own reproductive decision-making is among the most fundamental rights that she possesses.”

Is this truly the best overall care for a minor child to hide a procedure with known complications from the one person who will be taking care of them after the procedure?

ACOG has long been known for its number one priority (abortion), but this takes things to a different level.

How can they say abortion is essential healthcare for a minor when a minor cannot participate in a scientific study without parental consent? Science tells us the adolescent brain is not capable of understanding all the risks and complications of this kind of procedure, yet ACOG claims to “follow the science.” We know abortion is certainly not essential healthcare for the preborn.

No one will argue that a minor getting pregnant is a difficult situation. In a time like this, however, the minor needs the people in their lives who are responsible for caring for them to help them navigate this difficult time. Abortion is not without risk! ACOG would like you to believe it is, but it is not. Who will take care of the minor in the middle of the night when she is bleeding? Planned Parenthood won’t be there to answer the phone. An answering machine will say go to the emergency room if you need medical care. Who is most likely to take the minor child to the emergency room? Yes, the parent who did not even know their child was having the procedure. How is that reasonable?

It seems the only priority ACOG is focused on is to make abortion available to anyone at any time.

As a member of ACOG, I find it hypocritical they promote healthcare while at the same time focusing on the destruction of the preborn.

100% agree with you and as a Physician Assistant who has practiced Gyn for over 20 years now ACOG is making it harder and harder to practice even for those of us that are not members to practice according to our conscience.
