A Career of Local and Global Faithfulness
Dr. Robert Zimmerman’s five decades in dentistry have been driven by a profound zeal to address dental needs through the skills that God has given him. Whether treating missionaries in his practice, starting a local clinic for the underserved, or providing care and teaching internationally, his efforts were fueled by the love of Christ.
About Our Guest(s)
Robert Zimmerman, DDS, was born and raised in Waynesboro, PA. He graduated from Grove City College in 1973 with a BS in Chemistry, then went on to graduate from Temple University with a DDS in 1977 after which he practiced for 47 years in Waynesboro, PA. Dr. Zimmerman took his first mission trip overseas in July of 1977, which turned into a total of 60 foreign trips for dental missions to 11 countries on 5 continents.
In addition to working with CMDA (MGM, GHO) and MMI, he also provided dental care overseas with Africa Inland Missions, International Justice Mission, Eastern European Aid Association as well as medical missionaries who asked to bring a dental team to their mission station. Dr. Zimmerman has lectured on dentistry to colleagues in Russia, Ukraine, Ecuador and Honduras.
He is an honorary member of the Association Dental del Norte, San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
In 1999 Dr. Zimmerman helped start a low-income clinic in a neighboring county where dentists volunteer their time. He retired in June of 2024, and is currently working two days during a maternity leave for a colleague in town, volunteering a half day a week in a Head-start clinic, and volunteering 1 or 2 days per month in the low-income clinic.
Dr. Zimmerman has taught Senior High Sunday School for 40 years and currently teaches adults (not as fun as High School, but still fun.) His lovely and understanding wife of 51 years is Linda, and together they have 5 children and 16 grandchildren.
