Meet Our Guest
Christopher Hook, MD, FACP, is a Consultant in the Division of Hematology, and Associate Professor of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. He is a graduate of Greenville College (now Greenville University), Greenville, IL (BA, cum laude, in Chemistry), and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (MD). He received his training in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
He was the founder of the Ethics Committee and Consultation Service at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, FL and the Ethics Consultation Service Mayo Clinic Rochester, as well as the Mayo Clinical Ethics Council, the Reproductive Medicine Advisory Board, the Transplantation Ethics Advisory Board and the Artificial Intelligence Ethics Advisory Board for Mayo Clinic. He is Emeritus Director of Ethics Education for the Office of Clinical Ethics, which evolved out of the Ethics Council. His still teaches several classes in biomedical and engineering ethics in the Mayo Graduate School and is part of the team that has been authorized to develop an MA program in Biomedical Ethics at Mayo. Pertinent to his work on the Special Task Force on Pandemic Policy for CMDA he chaired the Bioterrorism and Institutional Ethics Task Force of Mayo’s Bioterrorism and Infectious Disease Emergency Response Committee in the 2002-3.
He is a Senior Fellow of the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity, Bannockburn, IL and is an adjunct professor of bioethics at Trinity International University.
