Dr. Paul Hoehner is currently serving as a Clinical Associate with the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He received his BA and MA from Johns Hopkins University, where he also did his residency in anesthesiology and critical care medicine, a fellowship in cardiovascular anesthesiology, and a research fellowship in neuropharmacology with Janssen Pharmaceutica in Belgium. He has held academic positions at Johns Hopkins, the University of Mississippi, the University of Virginia and Dartmouth, specializing in anesthesia for adult and pediatric cardiac surgery and transplantation. Dr. Hoehner also received an MA in theological studies from Reformed Theological Seminary and a PhD in theology, ethics and culture from the University of Virginia. He still works in the operating room part-time, but he also writes and teaches in the areas of Christian ethics, historical and systematic theology, and the intersection between science and religion.
