Dr. Scott Armistead experienced the loss of his job as he stood up for the truth of the gospel in his work as a teaching professor on a medical campus.
Meet Our Guest
Dr. Scott Armistead trained at the Medical College of Virginia and Truman East Family Medicine Residency in Kansas City, Missouri. He and his family lived in South Asia from 1999 to 2015, providing medical care at a village mission hospital. He has been the Area Director of the Richmond, Virginia CMDA VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) chapter since returning to the U.S. from South Asia. Now in private practice near Richmond, from 2015 to 2021 he worked in the Family Medicine Department at VCU. He loves teaching and has received teaching awards in the Practice of Clinical Medicine program at VCU and from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He is very keen on the professional, moral, missional and spiritual formation of students. He is active with the South Asian refugee and immigrant population in Richmond. He is an adjunct professor for Institute for International Medicine (INMED), teaching international ethics in their master’s program. He is married to JoAnn and they have three grown sons.
