Dr. W. David Hager is a nationally known speaker and author and researcher. Dr. Hager is actively engaged in the clinical practice of gynecology with Baptist Health, Women’s Care Lexington. Dr. Hager is a graduate of Asbury College (BA) and the University of Kentucky School of Medicine (MD). His residency training was done at the University of Virginia and the University of Kentucky. He was then an assistant surgeon and Lt. Commander in the United States Public Health Service and had an appointment in the Sexually Transmitted Disease Division at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. During this time, he was also an instructor in OB/Gyn at Emory University Medical School. Dr. Hager is co-editor of the textbook, Protocols for Infectious Disease in Obstetrics and Gynecology, (Blackwell Science). He is widely published in peer review medical journals with an emphasis in the subspecialty of infectious diseases in obstetrics and gynecology and sexually transmitted diseases. He is the author of Women at Risk (Bristol House Ltd), Stress and the Woman’s Body and As Jesus Cared for Women (Fleming/Revell) and The Reproduction Revolution(Erdhmans). He is well known for his work in the area of the sanctity of human life, abstinence education and pro-life issues. He is past-president of the Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Kentucky OB-GYN Society. He is a member of the Focus on the Family-Physicians Resource Council, and is on the Advisory Board of the Medical Institute. He has served on the Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health Drugs in Women at the Food and Drug Administration. He serves on the Female Population Advisory Board for Merck, Inc. He was recognized by U.S. News and World Report in 2013 as one of the leading gynecologic specialists in America. He is well known for his courageous stand on public policy issues in this country. He is widely sought after as a speaker in the areas of adolescent sexuality, female sexual development, abstinence education, the effects of stress on the woman’s body and mind, aspects of faith in healing in medicine, as well as infectious diseases in obstetrics and gynecology, sexually transmitted diseases and robotic surgery. His medical missions work has taken him to Brazil, Honduras, Guatemala, The Dominican Republic and India.
