Lessons Learned from the ADA’s 2024 Humanitarian of the Year Award Winner
Dr. William “Bill” Sasser has enjoyed a long career as a dental missionary and has introduced many others to the excitement and blessings of short-term international mission trips. He established a dental clinic for the underserved in Charleston, SC. Additionally, he and his wife Susalee are heavily invested in the lives of dental students at the Medical University of South Carolina. The love of Christ has compelled him to serve in these and many other ways, both domestically and internationally.

Dr. William “Bill” Sasser graduated from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) with a DMD, followed by Residency in Periodontology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He was in private practice in Charleston, SC for 40 years and served as part-time adjunct faculty member at MUSC Department of Periodontics and Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency programs. He is a longtime member of both the Christian Dental Society and the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA). He served on the CMDA Board of Trustees for two terms and the GHO Advisory Board, and currently serves on the CMDA Dental Advisory Council. Most recently, Dr. Sasser received the American Dental Association’s 2024 Humanitarian of the Year Award. He and his wife Susalee have two children and five grandchildren.
