Cameron, Nigel

Nigel M. de S. Cameron, Ph.D., M.B.A.

Nigel Cameron has written widely on medical ethics and the impact of new technologies; his book The New Medicine: Life and Death After Hippocrates, has a foreword by Dr. Koop. He has also written on history, and edited the million-word reference Dictionary of Scottish Church History and Theology. In the 1990s he served in various roles, including Provost, at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he established the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity and graduate programs in bioethics. Later, at the Illinois Institute of Technology, he led projects on the social impact of nanotechnology and biotechnology. He served four terms on the US National Commission for UNESCO, chairing its Committee on Human Sciences; in 2005 he was the US Goverment nominee to be United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Right to Health.
