Dr. Avery is National Medical Director for Diversicare Health and Visiting Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia.Triple board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, internal medicine, and pulmonary, Dr. Avery has served as the Chief Medical Officer for some of the largest and most prestigious post-acute care companies in the country including Golden Living, Visiting Nurse Service of New York and Suncoast Hospice. He also served as CEO at Hospice of the Piedmont.Dr. Avery was instrumental in helping us start our CMDA chapter in New York City. Jim lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife, Jan. He is an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) and is the author of the children’s book, “How’s the Water, Girls?”
