
Passing the Torch: Introduction of CMDA’s new VP of Advocacy and Bioethics, Dr. Brick Lantz
On this episode of The Voice of Advocacy podcast, CMDA’s current Senior Vice President of Bioethics and Public Policy, Dr. Jeffrey Barrows introduces his successor in the role, Dr. Brick Lantz. The two discuss Dr. Lantz’s testimony and heart for CMDA and our advocacy work. Come May 5, 2025, Dr. Barrows will retire as Sr. VP of Bioethics and Public Policy. At that time, Dr. Lantz will take over as VP of Advocacy and Bioethics.

Dr. Brick Lantz graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Human Biology, an MD from the University of Oklahoma, and completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Arkansas and a sports fellowship in Sydney, Australia. He has been in private practice in Eugene, Oregon since 1991. He has served as board chair of the research foundation, Sunday School teacher, church elder, and Kids’ sports coach. He has been a lifetime member of CMDA since 1982, has served on CMDA Board of Trustees, as a state rep for AAME and CMDA, and leads the undergraduate chapter at UO. He developed Bridging the Gap curriculum for CMDA. He is the medical director of a local Pregnancy Center. He enjoys teaching, writing, cycling, rafting, and Nordic skiing.
