Dr. Chad Hoyt earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital where he was the house staff “teacher of the year” and then completed his cardiology fellowship at Emory University.

Dr. Hoyt is a board-certified cardiologist with expertise in advanced cardiovascular imaging. His hallmark is being a “program builder”. He launched multiple centers of clinical excellence in heart failure, electrophysiology, vascular medicine & surgery, structural heart disease, pediatric and congenital cardiology, interventional cardiology, advanced cardiovascular imaging, cardiothoracic surgery, bariatric medicine & surgery, and endocrinology.

He is passionate about medical missions and has spent the last 15 years providing care and expertise in Vietnam. He and his friend Tom Forsberg (an ED physician) recently co-founded Healing Hearts Vietnam, a nonprofit organization committed to financing open heart surgeries for needy Vietnamese children. Thus far the organization has financed nearly 500 surgeries. Healing Hearts Vietnam enjoys a close working relationship with the Vietnamese National Heart Institute in Hanoi and Viet Duc Cardiac Surgery Hospital in Hanoi.

Dr. Tom Forsberg graduated from medical school at University at Buffalo School of Medicine in 2006. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 2009. Since then, he has been in partnership with Centra Health and provided emergency medical care in its emergency departments throughout Central and Southside Virginia. He is currently Medical Director for Centra Emergency Services Group, which provides emergency care in Centra’s four emergency departments and has over seventy clinical providers.

Dr. Forsberg first visited Vietnam in 2013 to share his medical expertise in airway management at two hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City. He returned in late 2014 to give a medical seminar with Dr. Hoyt at Hoan My Sai Gon Hospital. During this trip, he was impassioned by the need for cardiac surgeries, as well as the great impact made in the lives of the children and families who benefit from financial assistance. Upon returning from Vietnam, Dr. Forsberg led the charge to form Healing Hearts Vietnam.
