Dr. Mike Chupp chats with Midwest Regional Director Allan Harmer and Western Regional Director Michael McLaughlin as they prepare to retire after so many years of faithful service to CMDA on this week’s CMDA Matters podcast.

Allan Harmer, ThM, DMin, holds a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Prior to joining the CMDA staff, he served as an Associate Pastor over Christian Education and Family Ministries in suburban Washington, D.C. Allan has been CMDA’s Midwest Regional Director for the last 34 years. For seven years he also served as the staff advisor to CMDA’s Medical Malpractice Ministry and as CMDA’s National Field Director. His regional responsibilities include an 11 state area, more than 5,000 CMDA members and friends and 90+ healthcare campuses. He currently supervises (26) part-time and full-time staff. Allan’s responsibilities include leadership training among student leaders and faculty advisors, organizing continuing education conferences and developing ministry among healthcare professionals in Midwest communities. Concerned about the needs in their community, Allan and his wife Karen have led ministries to young single professionals and young married couples. For more than 20 years, Karen served as a member on their local school board (elected office). The Harmer’s have four children and 11 grandchildren, and they live in a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

 

Michael McLaughlin, MDiv, was born in Seattle, Washington, did his undergraduate work at Biola University in Los Angeles and earned his MDiv at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, where he and Linda raised their two children, Andrew and Amy, and have lived for the last 47 years. During and following graduation from seminary, he helped plant Grace Community Church in Gresham, Oregon and served as a preaching pastor in three Portland churches for two years. He has served the members of CMDA in various staff roles, including the National Single’s Advisor for 25 years, and the Director of Campus & Community Ministries for five years, alongside his primary role as the Western Regional Director for 38 years. On October 1, 2022, he will hand over 13 of his 15 western states to Wes Ehrhart, the new Western Regional Director, and will take on a new position as the Northwest Area Director for Oregon and Washington.
